For work I need Java 6 on my OS X 10.8.3 MacBook Pro. I download it from Microchip web-site and try to rub but it is asking to Java to proceed with installation. Question: Q: Where i can find Java for Mac OS X 10.8.3? I need to use MicroChip debugger MPLAB ICD 3 I need to install MPLAB X IDE v1.70 for Microchip Debbuger MPLAB ICD 3. So, even when the operating system have installed Java Runtime 8, it will NOT run apps that rely on Java Runtime 6. However, Java Runtime is not backward compatible. Mac OS X Yosemite (and the newer versions) are having a later version of Java Runtime (SE 8.0).
